The Romanian Ministry of Defense has introduced additional restrictions on flights in the country's airspace along the border with Ukraine.

This happened after elements of a possibly Russian drone were discovered on Romanian territory on Wednesday, September 13, reports The Guardian.

Let us recall that on the night of September 13, Russia launched 44 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs across the Odessa and Sumy regions. Air defense forces managed to destroy 32 enemy targets. Some of the drones hit the port infrastructure of the Izmail district of the Odessa region.

The fall of Russian drones on territory of Romania

On the night of September 4, the Russian military attacked port infrastructure and grain storage facilities in the Odessa region with Shahed-136 drones. The air defense forces destroyed 17 drones, but the hits could not be avoided.

On the same day, the State Border Service reported that several Russian drones fell on Romanian territory. And the Foreign Ministry reported that Kiev has photographic evidence of the fall of Shahed-type drones on the territory of this country.

On September 6, Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar said that specialists found debris similar to the remains of a drone near the village of Plauru. It is located on the banks of the Danube opposite the Ukrainian city of Izmail.

On September 9, debris from another drone, similar to Shahed-136, was found in Romania. The country's President Klaus Iohannis called this an unacceptable violation of Romania's sovereign airspace.

Romanian authorities plan to evacuate residents of villages near which drone debris was found. And the Romanian National Committee for Emergency Situations decided to strengthen measures of civil protection of the population in areas on the banks of the Danube.
