Ukrainian swimmer Mikhail Romanchuk failed to qualify for the final at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 800-meter freestyle.
The Ukrainian swam the distance with a time of 7:49.75 and became the last in his heat.
Romanchuk did not qualify for the 800m freestyle final
At the Olympic Games in Tokyo, at a distance of 800 meters freestyle, Romanchuk set an Olympic record in qualifying — 7:41.28 time. However, then he finished only third in the final, winning bronze.

In qualifying in Paris, Romanchuk swam in the third heat, where among his competitors were medalists of the previous Olympics in the 800-meter — American Bobby Finke, who won gold, and Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri (silver).
Only the best eight athletes from four heats were selected for the finals of the competition.
Romanchuk still has a performance in the 1,500 m freestyle, where he is the current vice-champion of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Qualification for this event will take place on Saturday, August 3.
The only Ukrainian swimmer at the 2024 Games in Paris, 19-year-old Nika Sharafutdinova, also failed to make it to the semifinals in the 100-meter backstroke. She took only 22nd place in the overall standings.
The day before, another Ukrainian swimmer Alexander Zheltyakov stopped at the qualifying stage, who showed only the 24th result in the 100-meter backstroke.
