The head of the ministry stressed that it is necessary to draw maximum attention to Ukrainian prisoners of war. First of all, we are talking about the defenders and defenders of Azovstal.

The brutal mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka by Russian invaders once again showed the criminal nature and inhuman nature of everything that the Kremlin is trying to bring to our land. And what we are protecting not only Ukraine, but the entire free world from,” Reznikov emphasized.

The enemy violates all possible conventions

With his With the terrorist attack in Yelenovka, Reznikov noted, Russian invaders once again violated a number of conventions.Documents that should make it impossible to repeat what the whole world experienced during the Second World War. Therefore, the minister stressed, the answer should be “not only principled, but also systemic.” So that the occupiers understand that punishment awaits for each of their crimes.

Reznikov asks for the creation of international groups

Reznikov appealed to the Ramstein participants to contribute to the formation of international groups. The latter will be engaged in work related to war crimes in our state. In addition, they will analyze the options for punishing war crimes committed by the Russian military.

Oleksiy Reznikov noted that the corresponding direction could well complement the military assistance provided to Ukraine. In particular, he thanked US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, thanks to whose leadership our state continues to provide the necessary equipment to confront the enemy.

“Russia is being rebuffed on the battlefield, in the information, economic, energy spheres. to send a clear signal to the Kremlin and everyone involved in the aggression against Ukraine that it will not be possible to slip away or hide,” he stressed.

For this reason, Reznikov has already turned to the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Robert Spano. The Minister asked him to adapt Articles 2 and 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. He noted that they should be considered in view of the war crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainian prisoners of war. After all, the court decision in these cases can literally “become a pointer” when considering others.
