Reznikov about the bridge from Crimea/Collage of Channel 24

In the first days of the full-scale invasion, Russian assassins crossed the bridge from the Crimea to the Kherson region. The question of why the crossing was not blown up was discussed at a meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov. He noted that demining or mining is not within the competence of the civilian authorities.

“I was on it with General Zaluzhny and the Chief of the General Staff, General Shaptala. Our military explained that after the victory they would conduct an appropriate investigation. And if the facts are established that a crime was committed by someone from the security and defense sector, then they will definitely will be held accountable,” the minister explained.

Investigation continues

According to Reznikov, while the Ministry of Defense will not influence the investigation, since the main task of Ukraine is to win the war. The military is interested in finding out what happened to the crossing in Chongar and the clearance of bridges in the Kherson region. The facts about this are recorded by the Security Service and counterintelligence.

“I repeat once again: was there sabotage, was there espionage, was there a provocation, or senseless negligence of someone – but that's for sure not to the civilian part of the government, this is a question for the management of the security and defense sector. That is, people in uniform who were responsible for this direction,” the minister said.

Arguments from the military

Reznikov urged, first of all, to listen to the military. They know whether it was really necessary to blow up the bridge in Chongar.

Everyone shouting “Everything is lost, the bridge was not blown up!”, listen first of all to the military! And they will tell you that there are 10 more passages from the Crimea by land, and not by bridges! And therefore, undermining the bridge would not affect the ability of the Russians to move in this direction. – the minister noted.

The situation with the attack on Kyiv

Reznikov explained that he had heard such arguments from one of the military generals. The minister added that at the beginning of the new invasion, a Russian armored personnel carrier entered Kyiv, and Buryat tanks were stationed at Brovary. Then, as Reznikov noted, there was no question of blowing up the Metro bridge.

“But what would society say today?!” Why were the bridges blown up? There are no bridges across the Dnieper!”? This is the logic,” Reznikov said.
