Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov addressed the EU member states. He asks to supply Ukraine with 250,000 artillery shells per month.
This request was made in order to alleviate the acute deficit that limited the army's advance on the battlefield.
Artillery plays a decisive role
The Minister of Defense stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are firing only a part of the shells that they could use. The reason is the lack of supplies.
Reznikov noted the decisive role of artillery in the destruction of the enemy's military power. Ukraine produced 110,000 155mm rounds per month, a quarter of what Russia used.
How many shells does Ukraine need
According to Reznikov, for successful tasks on the battlefield, at least 60% of the full ammunition load is needed, that is, 356,400 shells per month.
If we were not limited by the number of artillery shells available, we could use the entire load, which is 594,000 shells per month. the minister added.
