General Director and General designer of the Ukrainian office “the Beam” Oleg Korostelev in an interview with Defense Express dispelled common myths regarding coastal missile system LCD 360МЦ “Neptune”. In July 2019 the former Secretary of the national security Council and defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said that the Crimean bridge for a few minutes may be destroyed by such weapons.
Korostelev has revealed the origin of the weapons. According to him, the R-360 is similar to the Soviet (Russian) Kh-35 the same way as on the American Harpoon, French Exocet, the Japanese ASM-2, Swedish Robotsystem 15, the British Sea Eagle, Turkish and many other Atmaca anti-ship missiles.
Thus, according to the leader, Ukraine has managed to create new weapons just a few years, while Russia has to integrate the Kh-35 to the coast of the complex “Ball” took ten years.
General designer noted that Ukraine has independently developed a set of LCD 360МЦ “Neptune” and capable of serial production. In particular, the first such missile battalion needs to go into service in 2021. According to Korosteleva, technological cycle of production of the missile system is ten months.
“Three months is for the purchase of all materials and accessories, three for production and three for all tests as separate parts, and products in General. Thus, we can supply a serial of divisional set of 9, maximum of 12 months,” said the developer.
In July Korostelev said that successful tests with the defeat of surface targets coastal missile system LCD 360МЦ “Neptune”, held on 17 June in the Odessa region, were the final.
