Retired Colonel Says When North Korean Troops Could Seriously Threaten Front

A retired colonel said when the DPRK military could seriously threaten the front Victoria Grabovskaya

The Russians have already formed a “Buryat battalion” that includes servicemen from North Korea. However, 18 of them have already fled in an unknown direction. The fighters from the DPRK probably have no idea what serious military actions are unfolding in Ukraine.

It is known that the “Buryat battalion”, located in Russia at a distance of 7 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, consisted of approximately 3 thousand units of personnel. As military expert, pilot instructor and retired Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel Roman Svitan noted in a conversation with Channel 24, in order to really threaten Ukrainian forces, the North Korean group would have to be significantly larger.

When to worry

The front in Ukraine is 1,500 kilometers long. On the Ukrainian side there is a group of up to 1 million, on the Russian side – about 600 thousand.

If 1, 2 or 3 thousand North Korean soldiers are added to the Russians, they will not be visible against the general background, – the military expert emphasized.

At the same time, in his opinion, concern may arise if the DPRK military appears on the front in the amount of tens of thousands.

There must be several corps or armies – 50 – 70 thousand in one direction. Then it will be a serious problem for us and we will have to fight it, he emphasized.

Please note! The newly formed “Buryat battalion”, which was joined by military personnel from the DPRK, can probably carry out combat missions on Russian territory – near Sudzhi and Kursk.

However, when it comes to fighting, the North Koreans, the retired colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assumed, will start fleeing en masse.

Fighting Ukrainians is not the same as fighting South Koreans. They went to the border, looked at each other through binoculars and sent off balloons with manure. Such a war between North and South Korea, – noted Roman Svitan.

It should be noted that political analyst Olga Kurnosova believes that the number of those in Russia who are willing to fight in Ukraine even for big money is decreasing. This is why it is much more profitable for the Kremlin to attract military personnel, in particular, from North Korea, into the army, because they do not threaten Vladimir Putin with a riot or internal unrest.
