Residents of Kursk region can evacuate to Ukraine: Ministry of Reintegration opens 24-hour hotline

Ukraine is ready to accept Russian refugees in the adjacent territories of the Kursk region due to the possible deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

This was stated by Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk.

The Ministry of Reintegration has opened a 24-hour hotline for residents of the Kursk region who need humanitarian aid or want to evacuate to Ukraine.

Iryna Vereshchuk assured that Ukraine adheres to all norms of international humanitarian rights.

According to her, Ukraine will provide civilians in the Kursk region with the necessary protection and humanitarian support.

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, stated on the air of the United News telethon that since the beginning of the summer, Russians have carried out more than 2,000 attacks from the Kursk region, resulting in civilian injuries and deaths.

— Therefore, for the purposes of self-defense, Ukraine took such a step in the Kursk region, — explained the ombudsman.

Dmytro Lubinets noted that the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine strictly adhere to the norms of international humanitarian law.

Based on the Geneva Convention, the Armed Forces of Ukraine take Russian servicemen prisoner without subjecting them to torture or cruel treatment, the ombudsman emphasized.

According to him, Ukraine is ready to open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of the local population and the admission of international organizations.

The ombudsman added that the Ukrainian military is engaged in humanitarian aid to local residents, providing food, water and medications.
