Reserve IDF Lieutenant Colonel Explains How Israel Repulsed Iran's Massive Attack Vera Konoval

Iran launched a powerful missile strike on Israel. Tehran used hundreds of ballistic missiles for the attack.

Israel is already promising a powerful response to the attack from Iran. Israeli political scientist and IDF reserve lieutenant colonel Arieh Zaiden told Channel 24 how Israel repelled the enemy attack.

How missiles from Iran were shot down

On the evening of October 1, Iran launched a massive attack on Israel. With the support of its allies, the IDF intercepted a significant number of Iranian missiles.

It is not only Israel that is shooting down targets, it is the coalition: 3 squadrons of American aircraft, probably British ones, as well as our other neighbors, like Jordan, which provided us with the ability to operate in the air. Perhaps she did pass on the information, Arie Zayden noted.

Reference. A squadron is a unit consisting of several military aircraft and their crews, usually of the same type. Usually, there are 12 to 24 aircraft, sometimes divided into three or four links, depending on the type of aircraft and air force.

It is worth clarifying that Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel. Their number reached 180 units, which was later confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces.

“There are several echelons of air defense. Part of this is the interception of missiles by fighters. These missiles are very dangerous weapons that contain from 500 to 1000 kilograms of explosives. But due to the ballistic trajectory, it is possible to calculate where the missile will fly. There is no magic here, we just spent decades creating such capabilities and predicted the direction of development of Iran's missile systems,” explained the reserve lieutenant colonel of the IDF.

It should be noted that, unfortunately, not all missiles fired by Iran were intercepted. Hits were recorded on Israeli territory, in particular on civilian infrastructure.
