Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the enemy dreamed of capturing the south, in particular, Odessa. Unfortunately, the invaders still do not give up hope of occupying this region.
This was announced by the head of the press center of the security and defense forces of OK “South” Natalya Gumenyuk, informs Channel 24. She told how likely the scenarios of an amphibious assault or a land breakthrough are.
The enemy fleet is getting stronger
Odessa remains in the enemy's priorities. Desired for capture, desired for occupation, but it is also desired for a peaceful life by the Odessans themselves,” Gumenyuk said.
According to her, Russian naval groups are being reorganized, strengthened, transporting the goods necessary for the enemy. The invaders are also trying to set up certain positions, including on the Ukrainian island of Serpents.
As Gumenyuk noted, Russia is deploying additional air defense divisions in the temporarily occupied Crimea, as it understands the high probability of hitting its ships. Therefore, the enemy is looking for how to defend himself.
Missile ships continue to threaten Ukraine
At the same time, the missile ships of the aggressor state are in the waters of the north western part of the Black Sea. They continue to threaten with their missile strikes not only the southern region, but the whole of Ukraine.

Land and sea scenarios under control
She also said that on the Nikolaev-Kherson borders there remains the risk of land advancement of enemy troops. However, she stressed that the Southern Defense Forces are holding back Russian aggression there.
“They are fighting closely and repulsing the enemy as much as possible. In any case, they do not allow him to advance towards Nikolaev, as the invaders would like. Therefore, the land scenario is under our control,” Gumenyuk said.
As emphasized the head of the press center, the Ukrainian side is closely monitoring the naval scenario of the alleged enemy attack. In addition, prepares “certain moments” for the invaders.
Air scenario risks
At the same time, the air scenario, unfortunately, remains such that we expect certain weapons that will allow us to better protect our skies,” Gumenyuk noted.
However, she also stressed that Odessa’s air defense would severely injure the enemy and puzzles him. According to her, the Russians are constantly conducting reconnaissance to study the possibility of hitting this air defense.
The situation in the South of Ukraine: the latest
