More than 5,800 civilian infrastructure facilities, including 34 medical institutions, were completely or partially destroyed in the Chernihiv region.
This was announced by the prosecutor of the Chernihiv region Sergei Vasilisa. How the crimes of the Russian troops are recorded and how law enforcement structures work in conditions of a full-scale war – in the material.Sergey Vasilina on priority areas of work during the war
According to the official, fixing the destruction in order to compensate for the damage in the future is the task of law enforcement officers and the prosecutor's office as a whole.
From the very beginning of work in this direction, we have been working with the civilian population so that in the future we will be able to demand reparations from Russia for the damage caused by its actions after the victory,” Sergey Vasilina emphasized and added that the prosecutor’s office appeals to citizens as much as possible so that they report all cases.
The prosecutor also said that as of the end of 2022, the prosecutor's office of the Chernihiv region had submitted 13 acts against 17 Russian military personnel to court. Two servicemen were sentenced to 10 and 8.5 years, they were transferred to a correctional colony. 4 more were convicted in absentia.
According to Sergei Vasilina, the involvement of 14 servicemen in the commission of crimes in the village of Yagodnoye has been established, and indictments have been sent to court against four Russian servicemen.
The village was under occupation from March 3 to March 30. The Russian military kept local residents, namely 367 people, in the basement of the school. Many robberies, executions, bullying, and rape attempts took place in this village,” the regional prosecutor noted.
Due to the inhuman conditions of detention and the lack of proper medical care, 10 civilians died in the Yagodnoye concentration camp.
I hope that all the perpetrators will be identified and brought before an international tribunal. In the same Yagodny, we found a register of the military who were there – with their photos and questionnaires, which made it possible to identify them. As for the future, each such serviceman will be punished, and we are taking the necessary measures for this, – Sergey Vasilisa notes.
