Dust from the Sahara, which was recently observed in Greece in the form of an orange sky, has already reached Ukraine and in some places fell with rain, in particular in Kyiv.
Dust from the Sahara in Ukraine
According to the Hydrometeorological Center, dust from the Sahara was brought by southwestern air masses. Now it is most visible over the southern and central regions of Ukraine.
According to observations, dust from the Sahara is spreading to the northern regions of Ukraine. Partially yellow sky noticed in Kyiv.
Now watching
— As the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warned, dust from the Sahara has reached Ukraine. In Kyiv, dust mixed with precipitation, so raindrops have a yellowish tint. This is clearly visible on cars that have been caught in the rain. Most cars are covered with a layer of yellow dust, — noted in the KSCA.
In which cities was dust from the Sahara noticed?
On the satellite image, where dust is indicated in pink, dust from the Sahara is clearly visible over the southern and central regions, spreading to the north, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center noted.
The Gayvoron City Council of the Kirovograd Region published photos of stains and dirty streaks on cars after rain, which is a consequence of dust from the Sahara.
— The reasons for the rich hue are storms over the Sahara Desert in Africa, which raise tons of dust into the air, and cyclone winds blowing from the south to Europe. We have received small concentrations of dust and precipitation, — the message says.
At the Kherson Agrometeorological Station, dust and sand from the Sahara were also recorded, which, during heavy rain, left a mark on the surfaces of objects and plants.
How long will dust from the Sahara remain in Ukraine
Dust from the Sahara will remain in the atmosphere over Ukraine until Friday, April 26, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center said.
And from Friday to Saturday, that is, from April 26 to 27, dust from the Sahara will retreat to the East of Ukraine, after which the atmosphere will clear.
— In most of the territory, the weather is determined by the cyclone and humid air masses — this will facilitate the interception of dust particles by water droplets in clouds and precipitation. Dust will be washed out of the atmosphere faster, but in some areas the phenomenon may give the clouds a yellowish tint. The raindrops themselves that fall will contain this dust and will not be crystal clear, — the message says.

Will dust from the Sahara happen again
Forecasters cannot yet confirm that dust from the Sahara can return to Ukraine again.
Forecaster of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Natalya Ptukha noted that there is no pattern now — this coincided this year due to air disturbances over the Sahara.
— Atmospheric fronts there lifted sand into the atmosphere. And at the same time there was such a configuration of air flows from their side towards us that the dust was brought here, — states Natalya Ptukha.
At the beginning of April, dust from the Sahara was already spreading in Ukraine. However, the sandstorm stopped after a few days.
