What is the turnout situation in the elections in Moldova The candidates for the post of President of Moldova are the current President Maia Sandu and the former Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo. In the first round, Sandu gained 42.49% of the votes, Stoianoglo – 25.95%. According to the Central Election Commission, more than 1,522,974 citizens have already voted in the second round in Moldova. The most active in the elections are citizens 66 – 75 years old, and the least active – 18 – 25 years old. However, a higher turnout was recorded in all age groups. In addition, a high turnout was also among citizens living in Transnistria (23,294 people), – reports NewsMaker. Women participate in the elections more actively than men. The largest number of votes, as in the first round, was recorded in the Donduşeni, Chisinau and Criuleni districts. Also, as compared by the Moldovan TV channel TV8, approximately 1,284,000 voters (43.08%) came to cast their votes before 16:00. In the first round at the same time, the turnout was over 1,143,000 voters (39.40%). And in the last elections on November 1, 2020, in the first round, before 16:00, over 927,000 voters (33%) voted. The turnout is also a record for both Chisinau voters and the diaspora – + 10% and + 46%, respectively, compared to the first round.
