British intelligence recorded a new record for average daily losses of the Russian army in Ukraine in September 2024.

This is stated in an intelligence review of the UK Ministry of Defense.

Russia's losses

As noted in the review, in September of this year, the average daily losses of the Russian army amounted to 1,271 people (killed and wounded), exceeding the previous maximum of 1,262 people, recorded in May of this year.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost more than 648 thousand of its soldiers.

It should be noted that British intelligence refers to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The department noted that the increase in the number of losses is almost certainly due to the expansion of the combat zone in the Kharkov and Kursk directions, as well as the increase in the intensity of hostilities along the front line.

Russian troops are most likely continuing to try to stretch the Ukrainian forces, using their mass numbers to overcome defensive positions and achieve tactical advantages, the British intelligence report says.

Intelligence also predicts that The average daily losses of the Russian army will remain at the level of a thousand people, despite the approach of winter.

“To date, winter conditions have not led to a reduction in offensive operations or a decrease in losses due to the fact that Russia relies on infantry tactics and does not conduct a mobile war, which requires better (weather) conditions,” the British analysts concluded.
