However, these strikes are already having a powerful effect, forcing the Russians to redeploy air defense systems to higher-priority areas. In doing so, they are leaving certain regions “exposed” to the threat of Ukrainian drone strikes.

We must use these levers

The enemy is vigorously protecting strategic facilities belonging to the Ministry of Defense – airfields, command posts, air defense launchers, etc.

However, to a lesser extent, it protects oil depots, terminals, and refineries, and we are taking advantage of this. There are strikes on oil facilities, which leads to the loss of the ability of the Russians to supply fuel and lubricants to their army in advance and without interruption, the military expert explained.

Ukraine's drone attacks are very important, especially at a time when Western partners are in no hurry to grant us permission to use their weaponson energy generation facilities on Russian territory.

Therefore, in his opinion, we should use levers of fire action, which are provided by enterprises of the defense complex of Ukraine, in particular, drones.

Our drones are capable of covering a distance of 1800 kilometers – these are record figures. According to Ukrainian intelligence, one of our attack drones “visited” the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region, where the lion's share of Russian Tu-95MS are concentrated, he emphasized.

The trend is very encouraging

It is too early to talk about the strategic scale of the damage caused by Ukrainian drone strikes on the enemy's energy structure. Today, Ukraine lacks the resources to scale up the production of attack drones.

However, the trend is very encouraging. These strikes force the enemy to decide whether to direct air defense systems to protect the front line of its defense, protect military-strategic facilities, or allocate some air defense systems to protect key elements of the fuel and energy complex, noted Vladislav Seleznev.

There are many of these facilities, and the Russians do not have enough resources for air defense and missile defense systems. They are already redeploying most of this equipment from the Trans-Urals, the northwestern regions of Russia. Therefore, in particular, the Leningrad and Murmansk regions were left almost without protection.

“Ukrainian intelligence officers and partisans are looking for weak spots in the Russian air defense system so that the next attacks by Ukrainian drones are as effective as possible,” he emphasized.
