Budapest vetoed a Council of Europe resolution that recognizes the peace formula proposed by Ukraine. The Hungarian Foreign Minister said that “this is unacceptable,” saying that “other peace plans” must be taken into account.

So, Peter Szijjártó On May 17, he vetoed the Council of Europe resolution. The head of the Foreign Ministry also made his position public on his Facebook page.

What exactly did Szijjártó cynically say

Szijjártó said that the Council of Europe could be an excellent platform for making peace, but, according to the Hungarian minister, “after the exclusion of the Russians, this opportunity is lost.”

Instead of fantasizing about nuclear war, we finally need real peace negotiations. Real peace negotiations can only take place when all the warring parties are sitting at the table,” the Hungarian Foreign Minister said cynically.

Added that today the Council of Europe wanted to adopt a resolution which recognizes the peace plan proposed by Vladimir Zelensky as a peace formula that must be considered and supported.

This is unacceptable for us. Others also had peace plans that were no worse than those of the Ukrainian president. He asked that other peace plans be included in the Council of Europe resolution. The majority rejected this. That’s why I vetoed so that there would be no Council resolution,” Szijjártó emphasized.

What is the Ukrainian peace formula

This is an initiative and a diplomatic platform, which Ukraine proposes to achieve a just end to Russia’s war against Ukraine. The peace formula includes 10 points:

  • Radiation and nuclear safety
  • Food security

  • Release of prisoners and deportees
  • Restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine< /li>
  • Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities
  • Restoration of justice
  • Environmental safety
  • Preventing the escalation of war and repetition of aggression
  • Confirmation of the end of the war.

Vladimir Zelensky stated during a press conference on December 19 that when the document is ready, it will be handed over to the Russians through the UN or world leaders.
