Earlier, the State Border Service reported that as of August 1, about 80 Russians had applied for a visa, however, none of them had received it yet. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Nikolenko, on the air of the unified news telethon, specified exactly how many applications had been submitted as of August 10 and whether there were any changes regarding the number of permits issued, Channel 24 reports.

The current situation with the issuance of visas to Russians

Oleg Nikolenko recalled that the visa regime with Russia began to operate from July 1. According to him, as of August 10, Russian embassies abroad received 112 visa applications from citizens of the aggressor country. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that they are talking primarily about filing such applications in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Germany.

The fact is that Ukraine broke off diplomatic relations with Russia. Consequently, there are currently no Ukrainian diplomatic missions on the territory of the aggressor country, and, accordingly, Russian citizens living on the territory of the terrorist country have no opportunity to apply for Ukrainian visas. Nikolenko explained that only Russians living abroad and having the right to temporary or permanent residence there can do this.

Accordingly, now these petitions are being considered, verification is being carried out, in particular, with the involvement of the competent authorities of Ukraine. As of today, Russian citizens have not received a single visa, that is, the verification is still ongoing, and only after that can we talk about further progress in considering visa applications, the official said.

At the same time, the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the presence of a visa does not guarantee the right to cross the state border of Ukraine. The final decision on crossing the border is made by representatives of the State Border Service, and, of course, they have criteria by which they evaluate certain applicants.

According to Nikolenko, the border guards have reason to refuse a person entry into the territory Ukraine. One of them may be that she cannot prove the purpose of her trip , or, for example, this person also has questions from other competent Ukrainian services. However, this decision on a specific person who has a visa is made by the GNSU when he directly crosses the border.
