Uprising in Africa with unexpected consequences: Wagnerites could have been “handed over” by their own Vera Konoval In northern Mali, the Tuaregs routed a column of Russian militants from the Wagner PMC. A successful ambush by the rebels ended badly for two dozen Wagner soldiers. Among them were some well-known and trained Russian soldiers. Military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko, in a conversation with 24 Channel explained how the Tuaregs managed to defeat the Wagner PMC and why the Russian Ministry of Defense may be involved in this. Mali is the last African country where the Wagner PMC had complete control: both over the country's leadership and gold mining, etc. The defeat of the Wagnerites was the result of a successful ambush by the Tuaregs. The Tuaregs are quite skilled guerrillas, that's the thing. They know the desert very well, much better than the Wagnerites. An unprepared raid also contributed to this result. On the other hand, they have long been trying to deprive the Wagnerites of the “African pie,” noted Alexander Kovalenko. However, they were an important target not only for local guerrillas. The Wagnerites were ousted from other African countries by the “Africa Corps,” which is controlled by the Russian Defense Ministry. This did not happen with Mali because the prepared “Africa Corps” was attached to the “North” group of forces, which began an offensive in the Kharkiv region in May. “They wanted to launch an epic offensive, quickly capture everything and send the “Africa Corps” to Mali. But in the Kharkov region they drove themselves into a trap, so“Africa Corps” continues to wear down in the battles for Volchansk“, – explained the military observer. Therefore, in the near future, the “Africa Corps” should not have been sent to Mali, but the ambush on the Wagnerites will speed up this process. It is quite possible that even the Russian Ministry of Defense itself leaked the coordinates and direction of the columns to the Tuaregs Wagnerites. A kind of competition. But the most important thing is that when these last Wagnerites return to Russia, their story will end there, Kovalenko emphasized. The rest of the militants will probably be sent to “meat assaults” in Ukraine, and the leadership of the Wagner PMC, which tried to save its life in Mali, will face a not very pleasant fate in Russia itself. The Struggle for Africa
