— The Ukrainians must hold a realistic discussion on territorial issues, and only they can do this, and the Europeans count on building security guarantees that will be their responsibility, — Macron emphasized.
The United States, in turn, must convince Moscow to sit down at the negotiating table, Macron believes. And no decision on the war can be agreed upon without Ukraine and Europe.
The French President stressed that Ukraine's allies must provide it with sufficient support so that it can negotiate from a position of strength. At the same time, Macron noted that there will be no quick and easy solution, referring to the statements of US President-elect Donald Trump to quickly end the war.
— We, as Europeans, cannot allow Russia to win in Ukraine. We cannot do this for the sake of international order, we cannot do this for the sake of our own security, Macron said.
