Raising the temperature: Gallyamov said why Putin rattles nuclear weapons

by alex

Vladimir Putin has been using nuclear threats to the world since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He has now instructed the Ministry of Defense to conduct exercises using non-strategic nuclear weapons. It is still unknown what the purpose of such a decision of the dictator is.

Russian opposition political strategist Abbas Gallyamov told Channel 24 that Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons in a war where only conventional ammunition is used indicates Putin's inability to deal with Ukraine. The Kremlin overestimated its strength when starting this war.

Putin's orders are incomprehensible

Abbas Gallyamov emphasized that it is unclear why Putin gave the order for exercises using nuclear weapons. There is no obvious crisis at the front for the dictator’s regime – the Russian army has begun offensive operations in the Kharkov region.

Perhaps this is due to internal dynamics. Putin's inner circle, in particular Nikolai Patrushev, Boris Gromov and Igor Sechin, could convince him to do this in order to raise the stakes for domestic political success. They are constantly trying to raise the temperature, because the higher it is, the more power in their hands,” he said.

The political strategist believes that over the years of Russian aggression in different parts of the world, Putin's inner circle largely helped him make decisions. They are step by step expanding their zones of influence in order to take precedence in the internal confrontation between the ruling elites of Russia.

The situation has developed so that one branch Russian rule showed another of its power by inviting Putin to start nuclear exercises, thereby raising the internal temperature in the country, noted Abbas Gallyamov.

Nuclear threats to Russia

  • Vladimir Putin promised during a speech on Red Square in honor of Victory Day” stand firm against Western attempts to contain Russia.” In addition, the Russian dictator again threatened nuclear weapons. Financial Times journalists noted that, according to Putin, this would be “Russia’s response to the risks created by the West.”
  • Near the Belarusian town of Osipovichi, the development of an old military base is actively continuing. Previously, it was used to store nuclear weapons. Analysts have suggested that they plan to use it again for these purposes.
  • Russia is once again resorting to nuclear blackmail. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis expressed his opinion on whether the Russian dictator could use nuclear weapons. The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry is convinced that Putin is bluffing and will not dare to do this.
