Raids and lack of pensions: what is the real humanitarian situation in the Kherson region now

by alex

The first thing the Russians did after the occupation of the Kherson region was to block cash. This happened even before they closed the Ukrainian connection.

This Channel 24 was told by Kherson activist Volodymyr Molchanov. He noted that at that time Ukrposhta stopped distributing pensions in cash for about 40% of Kherson region pensioners. Most of them are in rural areas.

The activist added that Ukraine continues to accrue pensions, but because of the infidels, people have been physically unable to take it since March.

Vladimir Molchanov explained that pensioners were the first category that the Russians forced by such actions to accept the so-called help.

“The occupiers, of course, did not stop there. They continued to fight against Ukrainian money circulation by means of balance decrees, which is the main collaborator,” Molchanov added.

The activist explained what the balance decree envisaged:< /strong>

  • raids on Ukrainian trading establishments and markets,
  • Ukrainian hryvnia is allowed in circulation only in cash and only for the purpose of withdrawing it,
  • all trading establishments are required to accept hryvnia at the rate of 1.5 rubles for 1 hryvnia,
  • any prices must be set in rubles,
  • the hryvnia is accepted, collected and exported to Crimea for subsequent exchange for rubles.

Vladimir Molchanov explained that only those trading establishments that are directly controlled by the Russians do this. For example, chain stores are addicted. As well as some more or less well-known establishments that the occupiers constantly visit and actually control. In addition, of course, that collaborators have joined.

According to the activist, all the rest, and these are all markets that were or were formed new spontaneous ones, use the hryvnia and abandoned the ruble. Kherson has again turned into a huge bazaar, which it was in the 90s.

“As for the attempts of infidels to buy something for the ruble, they are resolutely rejected by all sellers“, Molchanov added.
