Why did the radio dictation date change?
Since 2000, everyone wrote a radio dictation of national unity on November 9, the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language.
The last holiday was founded by Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma by decree back in 1997.
The day chosen for the holiday was when the church honors the memory of Nestor the Chronicler.
However, after the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church switched to a new calendar in 2023, the need arose to change the dates.
From now on, honoring the memory of Nestor the Chronicler, celebrating the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language, as well as writing a radio dictation of national unity will take place on a new date – October 27.
Vladimir Zelensky introduced changes to the decree of the President of Ukraine of November 6, 1997 No. 1241/97 on July 28, 2023.
