On the night of February 11, the Russians dropped 4 air bombs on the Snake Island in the Odessa region. Previously, the island was strategically important for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in terms of preventing the Russians from using it to locate their forces and assets.

Subsequently, the invaders made a “goodwill gesture” and fled the island. Therefore, probably, anti-aircraft defenses were not deployed there for cover. After all, the Su-24, from which the enemy dropped air bombs, is not a difficult target for anti-aircraft missile systems.
What was the purpose of the enemy
The lieutenant general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suggested why the Russian invaders attacked the island with air bombs. According to him, the Russians could have the following goal:
- to blow up their warehouses that remained on the island;
- perhaps the Armed Forces of Ukraine were planning some actions there in the future, the Russians learned about and decided to prevent them;
- the use of a blow for propaganda purposes.
Anyway, they have already used it for propaganda purposes. As well as strikes on the Odessa region with Onyx complexes. The Russians use any occasion for propaganda, – a military expert noted.

The situation in the East is now much more difficult
Romanenko noted that the situation in the East of Ukraine is now more tense. Fierce fighting continues from the Kharkiv region to Vuhledar, Donetsk region.
The enemy is increasing its efforts in the region and is advancing not hundreds of meters, but several kilometers. For example, in the Svatovo region, the Russians advanced 12-15 kilometers, and near Kremennaya, 6-8 kilometers.
Our military resist the enemy. It is very difficult there, but reserves are concentrated on our side to stop and destroy the enemy. Now our strategic defense operation is being carried out there, which consists in stopping the enemy, – said the lieutenant general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He added that the equipment from our partners should arrive at the Armed Forces of Ukraine at least in a month. At the same time, the Russian invaders gathered a lot of manpower and military equipment in the East. What is important, not only Soviet, but also new.
“Therefore, the two Su-24s that bombed Zmeiny are, from a military point of view, secondary (incident – Channel 24) against what is happening in the East”, summed up the military expert.
