For almost a year now, the Kremlin has been threatening the West if it crosses the so-called “red lines”. They mainly concern the military support of Ukraine.
However, a lot has changed during this time. Russian human rights activist Mark Feygin said this Channel 24.
“If you cross the” red lines “- we will use nuclear weapons. And what else? He scares only one thing – the presence of nuclear weapons “, the human rights activist noted.
Return to nuclear blackmail is impossible
According to Feygin, the real threat was removed at some point. Yes, the rhetoric remains to a certain extent.
“I think that China played a decisive role, with which it was agreed that Washington and Beijing need to be convinced:” This is not “. Conventional war – please. However, no nuclear bombs and threats,” the human rights activist said.
In the event of a return to nuclear blackmail, he believes, the dictator will not leave his allies in the East. Moscow is counting on China very much, because it is clear that the old relations with the West cannot be returned.
“Red Lines” is no longer a working meme, but continues to excite the imagination on the subject of who we are dealing with – psychos or predictable psychos? But with psychos for sure, – Feigin emphasized.
These lines were constantly moving forward – the bombing of the Crimea, getting a tank or something else. “They will be moved to 150-kilometer shells. Then – to 300-kilometer ATACMS missiles. So they will advance endlessly, nothing will happen,” the human rights activist assures.
In his opinion, in order to remove the rhetoric about “red lines”, it is necessary to supply weapons. The Russians should be made clear: stop shelling the territory of Ukraine – then they will not fly to you either. The logic is quite straightforward.
“Are you afraid of 150-kilometer shells? So stop shelling the territory of Ukraine, and you won’t fly to any Shibekino or somewhere else. beat, like in the Dnieper. Where is there even a drop of logic? Therefore, Putin's “red lines” are an anachronism that will soon disappear,” Mark Feygin summed up.
What is Putin's logic
- The Russian war is so illogical that it is quite difficult to understand its purpose. As Russian oppositionist Gennady Gudkov notes, Putin is leading him to maintain power. The fact is that in 2019 he lost the support of the majority of Russians. In addition, he was offended by Ukraine, which abandoned its pro-Russian course in 2014.
- The goals of this war change depending on the situation. At first, Putin wanted to seize all of Ukraine, then deprive it of access to the seas, and then defend the Donbass.
- Nothing was possible, so Putin decided to prolong the war as much as possible, destroy the infrastructure and population, counting on the Ukrainians to surrender, and the West will come with proposals. He really came, Gudkov notes, but Putin's proposals were not satisfied. The dictator did not come up with anything better than to once again attack Kyiv.
- After that, the oppositionist says, the Western countries decided to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine. No one is going to forgive Putin for such boorish behavior.
- The dictator's main task now is to drag out the war. “To crawl away somehow beautifully, pass off their defeat as a victory and say that they fought with the whole world, that” Minsk “turned out to be a screen, they were preparing for a war with Russia with the hands of Ukraine, pumped up weapons, but they still won in an unequal battle” , Gudkov explained.
