Brief version of the news

  • The United States accepted assistance for Ukraine and is preparing a strategy for long-term support for our state in the war against Russia.
  • The White House is not trying to inflict a crushing defeat on Russia, but wants it to fail.
  • The United States now has a fairly cautious policy to prevent escalation with Russia.

The other day, the United States accepted long-awaited aid for Ukraine. Over the next month, the White House should prepare a strategy for long-term support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.

The United States will likely not seek to deal a devastating blow to Russia defeat. This opinion was expressed on air 24 Channel by Israeli military observer David Sharp, explaining that the White House is seeking to avoid escalation.

What is the approach in the USA

The White House, within 45 days after accepting assistance for Ukraine, must present a strategy for long-term support for Ukraine and define the goals that the United States wants to achieve. Although the bill could not be voted on since December 2023 and the actions of the United States became more cautious, Ukraine did not lose one of its main allies.

The intention of the current administration (Biden – Channel 24), despite its caution and reluctance to escalate with Russia, is for Ukraine to succeed. That is, for Russia to fail. Perhaps they will not go so far that Russia suffers a crushing defeat, because for this they must make colossal efforts, emphasized David Sharp.

However, undoubtedly, the United States wants so that Russia loses, so that it loses the captured territories. This trend must not stop, otherwise Russia’s exhaustion will continue. Although this is quite difficult and will require long-term support from the United States and others.

“Or Russia will decide to negotiate, and if Ukraine and the West are satisfied with its proposals, then so be it. The general idea is that Russia will fail. But again, not a “crushing defeat”, because that looks unrealistic. Optimal is their approach? In my opinion, no. For example, the ban on US weapons striking legitimate military targets in Russia is a clear example of overly cautious US policy”, – noted the military observer.

With this approach, the current US presidential administration needs to work to change it at least a little. In the end, even the symbolic delivery of ATACMS missiles shows that Russia's approach to the war with Ukraine may gradually change.
