The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the Russian army is making a gradual increase at the expense of “volunteers”.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has given a “signal” that it likely intends to continue to rely on recruitment schemes through “crypto-mobilization” for any potential increase in the size of the Russian army.
This is the conclusion reached by analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts recalled that the Russian Ministry of Defense responded to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin dated December 1 on increasing the number of the Russian Armed Forces and stated that the Russian army is making a gradual increase “at the expense of citizens who have expressed a desire to perform military service under a contract.”
“This language may refer to volunteers the DoD has recruited due to extensive crypto-mobilization work in Russia, and suggests that the DoD could use volunteer recruitment for long-term force development,” ISW noted.
The Ministry of Defense of the terrorist country clarified that Putin’s decree supposedly does not imply a significant increase in the number of Russian conscripts and a second wave of mobilization.
“Putin's decree officially increasing the size of the Russian army from 2.039 million to 2.209 million, and the total number of Russian military personnel from 1.15 million to 1.32 million, is likely an official recognition of the actual final size of the Russian army, an immediate increase.” , say American analysts.
ISW also noted that “fractional mobilization, long-term large-scale crypto-mobilization efforts, the number of Russian personnel completing military service, and Russian casualties in Ukraine could likely explain the net increase of 170,000 Russian troops between the August 22 decree and December 1.”
Let us recall that on December 1, Vladimir Putin signed a decree on increasing his army.
