German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his country supports Ukraine in the fight against Russian invaders. According to him, the president of the aggressor state, Vladimir Putin, will not win.
Scholz stated this during the second international charity telethon Save Ukraine – #StopWar, Channel 24 reports. The chancellor addressed the Ukrainians as a representative of Germany, in which part of this event took place.

The chancellor said that The hearts and opinions of Germans have been directed daily towards Ukraine ever since Russia attacked it.
“We are clasping hands with our friends and partners. We are giving aid so that your economy does not fall into decline. We are sending weapons to Ukraine, breaking the long-standing German tradition of not giving weapons to anyone,” Scholz said.
He added that 80,000 Ukrainians found refuge in Germany. There they were welcomed with hugs. According to the chancellor, his country will also help our state rebuild after the war.

- Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced on May 17 that the German government would allocate 150 million euros to support Ukraine. This money will be directed to priority social spending, as well as priority needs for the reconstruction of our country.
- Also, Germany announced that they would allocate approximately 1 billion euros for Ukraine from their budget. We are talking about grants that will be paid from the budget for 2022 without creating additional debt. The money will be used to ensure the viability of our state.
