Putin threatened Johnson with a missile strike during a call before the invasion of Ukraine

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke about a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin. According to him, he threatened a missile strike.

Johnson said that Putin's comment was made after Johnson warned that the war would be a “complete disaster” during a “too long” conversation in February 2022.

Putin's threats

As Johnson said, Putin promised him that it would take “just a minute”.

Details of the phone call are revealed in a BBC film examining Putin's interactions with world leaders.

Back then, Johnson warned Putin that an invasion of Ukraine would lead to Western sanctions and an increase in the presence of NATO troops on Russia's borders.

He also tried to contain Russian military action by telling Putin that Ukraine would not join NATO in the near future.

At some point, he threatened me and said: Boris, I don't want to hurt you, but with a rocket it will only take a minute. Fun,” Johnson said.

Johnson also added that Putin was very familiar during the “most extraordinary call”.

Johnson's last trip to Ukraine

  • Former British leader Boris Johnson has visited Ukraine for the fourth time since the start of full-scale Russian aggression. On Sunday, January 22, he visited Bucha in the Kyiv region, which was under occupation for about a month.
  • He also visited the President's Office, where he met with Zelensky, head of the OP Andriy Yermak and other officials. Zelensky and Johnson held talks.
  • Johnson is one of Ukraine's biggest friends in the West, because he constantly advocates military support for our country. Recently in Davos, he called for tanks and other weapons to be provided to Ukraine in order to end the war.
  • Johnson believes that Ukraine will return all territories, in particular Donbass and Crimea. He stated that Russia must lose and Ukraine must succeed, which means at the very least pushing the Russians back from all the territories they have captured since February 24, 2022.
