The President noted that people lived calmly with this, but on February 24 everything changed. The head of state announced this on May 13 in an interview with the Italian channel Rai 1.
He (Putin – Channel 24) with his steps turns away from the Russian language, culture and history, – said Vladimir Zelensky.
“They don't want to serve a person in stores because he is from Russia. That's what he does. It will not work to save face,” the Ukrainian leader continued.
Russia uses language as a weapon of war
Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language Taras Kremen pointed out that if you look, on the one hand, at the policy articles about the so-called “denazification”, and on the other hand, about the genocide of the Ukrainian people, this is additional confirmation that there is a struggle against the Ukrainian language.
Russia uses language as a tool in war, the Ombudsman emphasized.
He informed that they are already actively collecting materials related to linguocide, that is, discrimination against Ukrainian citizens on the basis of language. First of all, such crimes concern:
- applicants for education;
- pedagogical workers;
- cultural spheres;
- general information spheres etc.
