On the eve of Putin's visit to Vietnam, the state-run Nhân Dân newspaper published an article in which the Russian president used the same narratives as in the article in the North Korean Rodong Sinmun newspaper.

As ISW experts noted, in the article, Putin referred to the historical memory of the Soviet Union's support for Vietnam during the Vietnam War, which the Russian president described as a heroic struggle against foreign invaders.

In addition, he noted that it has already been 30 years since the signing of the agreement on the basic principles of friendly relations between Russia and Vietnam.

In particular, in his article, the Russian dictator praised Vietnam for pursuing an independent foreign policy and maintaining a world order based on the principles of equality between nations and non-interference in internal affairs. He also praised North Korea again.

Putin also claims that, like North Korea, Vietnam shares Russia's views on forming a new system of equal and indivisible Eurasian security. Although Vietnam, like most of Southeast Asia, is not usually related to political concepts of Eurasia.

Putin laid the informational foundation for the Eurasian security structure with his theses during his visit to China in May of this year. He subsequently proposed it in a speech on June 14, in which he argued that the Euro-Atlantic security system is collapsing and that Western schemes for security and prosperity in Europe are not working.

As analysts at the Institute for the Study of War note, Putin is seeking to create a coalition of countries to present as an alternative to the North Atlantic bloc. In addition, he wants to create the illusion that Western countries are the only supporters of Ukraine, while the rest of the world is behind the Russian Federation.

– Putin probably intends to use the historical memory of positive relations with the Soviet Union and previous assistance to other states to create a coalition of countries that the Russian dictator could present as an alternative to NATO and support the Kremlin's information operations aimed at distorting the image of Western countries as the only supporters of Ukraine, while the rest of the world allegedly stands behind the Russian Federation, – explained in ISW.

The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for 848 days already.

The situation in the cities can be monitored on the interactive map of the fighting in Ukraine and the air raid map in Ukraine.
