Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has ordered Russian intelligence agencies to step up their recruitment of “kamikaze” spies in the UK. Moscow pursues two goals at once, one of which is related to Ukraine.
Putin wants to prevent the transfer of future military aid to Ukraine and wreak havoc in Britain. The Sun, citing sources in Russian intelligence, reports that Russia will try to win over British officials and former intelligence officers.

A Russian intelligence source suggests that Moscow will “increase covert work with secret informants” throughout Britain.
Former British intelligence officials believe that the UK is a “prime” target for the Kremlin, and Russia will do everything possible to “access people and get agents back to useful places”.
The other direction is to step up undercover work with secret informants in all areas of British society, mainly among civil servants and politicians of all ranks – including those who sit in Parliament and members of the Lords, the source said in an email.
The Sun emphasizes that Russia will look for British officials willing to sacrifice themselves and participate in Russian sabotage. Also, the Russians will pay special attention to activists of international student youth movements, trade unions, leaders of various religious communities.
Russia can blackmail “compromised” persons
A source of journalists in the Russian special services said that potential agents can be discovered by “increasing surveillance of the diplomatic staff of the Russian embassy and consulates.”
Former MI5 intelligence officer Annie Machon has no doubts about the Russians' attempt to infiltrate Britain. According to her, the Kremlin will look for people who are sympathetic to the Russian cause and will offer huge amounts of money.
Machon also warned that Russian intelligence services could blackmail “compromised” individuals.
