Putin no longer seeks to “save face”: what is the new task of the dictator

Putin no longer seeks to

Poland's envoy to the UN, Krzysztof Szczerski, said attempts to save face for Vladimir Putin would achieve international order. However, the dictator is now indifferent to what the West thinks of him.

Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko told Channel 24 about this. According to him, it is difficult to say what exactly they mean in Poland when they talk about saving face to Putin.

Yakovenko is convinced that the Russian dictator has already completely lost his face.

“Before whom to save face? In the eyes of Europe? Any normal European already understands that Putin is an international criminal and terrorist No. 1, who should be sentenced to life imprisonment,” the journalist said.

The main problem of the Russian dictator

According to him, the head of the Kremlin himself is no longer worried about maintaining his reputation.

Putin is no longer thinking about saving face, at least for Western public opinion. For Putin now, the real problem is to save life and power, which is actually the same thing. This is precisely the main task of the dictator,” Yakovenko said.

According to the opposition journalist, there are various scenarios in which there could be a direct threat to the life of the Russian dictator. And Putin understands this very well. One of the main scenarios is associated with the loss of Russia in the war against Ukraine.

The Threat to Putin's Power

Yakovenko explained that the further, the more the number of Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine will grow. Already, a whole campaign has begun in Russia to find those responsible for the death of hundreds of those mobilized in Makiivka in the Donetsk region. The journalist suggested that one of the generals would be blamed for the incident.

“This is just the beginning. This will be the main plot of 2023. The mobilized will continue to arrive at the front in large numbers and will be placed in compact groups. They will be destroyed,” Yakovenko said.

He added that such cases would lead to hysteria even in the “jingo-patriotic” Russian media and telegram channels.

Generals will continue to be held accountable. As a result, resistance among the military will grow. The crack between the army and the Kremlin authorities will widen and become a threat to Putin's power, the journalist said.

He stressed that if the security forces stop supporting power, the regime of the Russian dictator will collapse.

“Putin will not live to see the tribunal”

In this case, nothing good will shine for the current head of the Kremlin.

When Putin loses power, he will probably lose his life as well. The reliability of the fact that he will be sent to an “honorary” pension is zero, – said Yakovenko.

The journalist added that the dictator's likely successor would blame all the problems on his predecessor. Consequently, Putin will be sent to the tribunal.

“However, he will definitely not live to see the tribunal, because no one needs Putin, who will speak at the trial . Most likely, he will simply be destroyed,” Yakovenko suggested.

What do Russia's allies think of Putin?

The Russian opposition journalist noted that now the Russian dictator could try to save face in front of his allies.

However, if we are talking about Iran or North Korea, then what kind of person is there? This is a terrorist brotherhood, where everyone is their own and there is nothing to be ashamed of, – Yakovenko noted.

As for China, Putin would like Xi Jinping to appear better than he really is. However, according to Yakovenko, the Chinese leader perfectly understands who he is dealing with, because he himself is partly like that.

“But with India, the situation is somewhat different. Putin's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not take place. This suggests that Putin has lost face for India,” the journalist said.

Vladimir Putin's Problems Essentials

  • Vladimir Putin has been lying to his people for years. With the help of his really empty and unrealistic promises, the dictator is trying to stay in power longer.
  • The Russian Defense Ministry is trying to shift the responsibility for the explosion in Makeyevka to the so-called “leaders” of the pseudo-republic in the Donetsk region. Analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War believe that a strike on the occupiers in Makeyevka could undermine Putin's authority as a military leader.
  • Military observer Denis Popovich said that the strike by the Ukrainian military on the point of temporary deployment of Russians in Makeyevka received a response in Russia. Because of this, serious conflicts unfold in Putin's entourage.
