Russian research organization Levada Center has released the results of a survey on support for the war in Ukraine. It fell from 75% to 48%, but without Putin's permission, such figures could never have been published.
Political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman told Channel 24 about this. At the same time, Putin may be preparing a new Russian offensive against Ukraine in the autumn.
The results are true
Sheitelman noted that the survey results are true. The level of Russian support for the war in Ukraine has fallen. Perhaps because their prices have tripled. Perhaps because of unemployment.
At most enterprises, half of the workers were laid off. I'm talking about private small, not large factories, – said the political strategist.
He added that even those who were filled with enthusiasm for the war in Ukraine no longer feel it. Therefore, the drop in support is quite natural.
Why this poll was published
According to Sheitelman, the results of such a poll could be published in Russia only with Putin's permission. This means that he has several scenarios:
- Capture the Donetsk region before September 15.
- Referring to this research, restore peace.
“Although Putin didn’t talk about September 15. Putin doesn’t say what he can’t do. He got burned at the beginning of the war. He said what he couldn’t do. >Regarding the second scenario, Putin can stop the war by saying that the Russians are peaceful and they are against it.
That's what this poll is for. The people asked,” Sheitelman summed up.
