Putin is in a difficult situation, – political scientist explained Trump's latest loud statements Angela Figin

Donald Trump, in just three days as US President, has created a new situation, particularly difficult for Russia, around possible contacts and negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Political scientist Alexander Morozov told Channel 24 about this, noting that Trump is not conducting any behind-the-scenes negotiations and is clearly putting pressure on Putin.

What the Kremlin expects from Trump

The new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has not yet taken any steps towards Moscow to begin preparing for a meeting between Putin and Trump. However, such preparations will probably begin in the near future, since the US President clearly states this.

Putin's answer, as always, is ambiguous and ironic. However, what Putin said so far means little in terms of potential negotiations, Morozov noted.

The Kremlin is waiting for concrete steps from the US to organize contact between Putin and Trump. So far, this has obviously not happened. However, the Russian dictator could not help but respond to Trump's consistent and clear initiative. He gave a short comment that does not open the door to negotiations and new diplomatic activity.

By the way, Vladimir Putin stated Russia's readiness for negotiations on Ukraine, but believes that the ban on dialogue by Volodymyr Zelensky makes them illegitimate.

How much time will Trump give Putin to “think”

The newly appointed US president threatened that if Russia does not agree to negotiations, Washington will powerfully arm Ukraine and impose tough sanctions against the aggressor country. The political scientist suggested how much time should pass before Trump moves to tough actions.

I think that all this will happen very quickly. This time, Trump came into office very prepared, because he makes decisions extremely quickly, – said the political scientist.

In particular, about 100 decrees were signed at once. Probably, several months before the inauguration, Trump's team prepared a step-by-step plan, because within three days we see consistent steps. This means that Trump hopes to act quickly at the beginning of his term on all issues. According to Morozov, Trump has a “Plan B” on hand regarding what to do if there is no ceasefire.

According to The Telegraph, Donald Trump is capable of breaking the Russian economy and ending the war in Ukraine.
