“They fear Putin more than retribution for his crimes”: when a coup could happen in Russia Alexandra Sadovaya

The Russian elite is interested in ending the war against Ukraine, but is still afraid to rebel against Vladimir Putin. After all, they fear the Kremlin dictator much more than the consequences of his rule.

The so-called coup in Russia, primarily among the security forces, and a reduction in fear of Putin could occur after a severe military defeat of the occupation army. This opinion was voiced to Channel 24 by Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko.

“There was a moment when Putin lost control of what was happening. It was the moment of Prigozhin's rebellion. But by demonstratively executing him, Putin regained control of what is happening in Russia. Today, they fear him more than retribution for the crimes they are committing,” he said.

By the way, the head of the Vezha Public Analysis Center, Valery Klochok, noted that dissatisfaction with the actions of the authorities in Russia is growing, but it will not play a key role. According to him, the only correct path is the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion, which can destroy Putin's regime with weapons.

What will Russia be like after Putin

Igor Yakovenko noted that Putin's regime has no ideology. In particular, absolutely all FSB employees are corrupt. Therefore, Putin's successors will probably be unprincipled and corrupt. However, there are doubts that there will be any unified power in Russia after him.

If the regime collapses, I am not sure that Russia will survive as a single state. Putin, having started this war, launched processes that have been smoldering inside Russia for many years. If Putin's regime falls, I am not sure that there will be forces that can hold this empire together, the oppositionist suggested.

Russia is an artificial entity that is held together only by force. If the security forces are weakened, this entire structure will most likely begin to fall apart. After all, only the security forces are holding this empire together today.

“In the event of a serious military defeat, which means a weakening of the security forces, it will begin to fall apart. I am not sure that the Russian government, which will exist then, will have enough strength to hold it all together,” the journalist added.
