Putin has only one choice: how the Kremlin can respond to protests after the “elections”

by alex

In Russia, events are increasingly taking place protests by relatives of those mobilized. However, they will now begin to be harshly repressed, so it is unlikely that this movement will be able to become widespread.

After the presidential “elections” in Russia, the Kremlin will begin mobilization. This opinion 24 Channel was voiced by Russian opposition politician Gennady Gudkov.

Putin will announce strict mobilization

Gennady Gudkov suggested that Russian security forces are now checking whether the protesters really have anyone fighting or died at the front. Everyone who supports this movement will begin to be harshly repressed, leaving aside those who have someone fighting or dying.

It is unlikely that this movement can be massive, because any public support has already begun to be cut off from it. But this irritates and confuses the Kremlin. Therefore, in response, after his “re-election,” Vladimir Putin will announce strict mobilization.

Previously, the Kremlin hoped for the so-called “voluntary” mobilization. They pressed, frightened, new invaders arrived at the front. But now there are not enough personnel, so they do not carry out rotations.

The system’s answer will be very simple – strict mobilization. Then it will be possible to do a rotation to solve the problem. In my opinion, it will be resolved this way, I don’t see any other way,” says the oppositionist.

Protests of the wives of the mobilized: last

  • The movement of the wives of Russian conscripts began its activities in the fall of 2023. They demand the demobilization of their husbands. Let us note that Russian women do not oppose Russia’s war in Ukraine. Subsequently, this movement became more radical.
  • The wives of mobilized Russians held a rally in the center of Moscow demanding that their husbands be returned home. Previously, the Kremlin ignored such rallies. However, this time Russian security forces paid a visit. They did not touch their wives, but they detained journalists who were recording the action of the “Way Home” movement. They were traditionally stuffed into a paddy wagon and taken away in an unknown direction.
  • ISW analysts believe that it was the journalists, not the wives, who were specifically detained during the protest. In this way, they wanted to prevent coverage of the action and prevent members of the movement from becoming “martyrs” in the information space due to arrests.
