US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller stated this at a briefing.
— It is quite clear that Russia failed. Our assessment: they cannot capture Kyiv. Putin has not and will not be able to achieve his ultimate goal, which is to conquer all of Ukraine, — he said.
The State Department speaker does not believe that the war is now developing in Russia’s favor. According to him, people often forget what the real goal of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was: the total conquest of Ukraine, the removal of the Ukrainian government from power and the incorporation of Ukraine into Russia.

He noted that Ukraine was not only able to prevent this, but also regained about half of the territories that Russia captured in the first weeks of the war. Moreover, even in the last few weeks, the Ukrainians continue to achieve success on the battlefield.
At the same time, Miller noted that the situation on the battlefield will be very difficult without additional support from the United States, so it is important to continue supporting Kyiv. In his opinion, Congress will ultimately decide on assistance to Ukraine.
