The other day, near the Estonian-Russian border, a quote from Putin was posted on billboards stating that “Russia’s borders do not end anywhere.” This is happening against the backdrop of statements about the Kremlin’s readiness for war with NATO, which many European countries consider quite realistic after February 24.

Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin told Channel 24 about this. He believes that despite loud words, the Kremlin is now unable to challenge the military power of the West.

Tension between Russia and NATO

As the “successor” of the Soviet Union, Russia adopted its aggressive rhetoric towards the West. However, the Kremlin's numerous failures in Ukraine very clearly show that Moscow's capabilities are not as great as they are commonly said to be.

Today there are no possibilities for a full-scale war with NATO in Russia. If they existed, they would be used primarily to resolve all issues in Ukraine. And no one will open a second front, because this way you can only lose, the human rights activist is convinced.

It is on “pressing” Ukraine and getting the best result for itself that the Kremlin’s efforts will be focused in the near future. For this purpose, in particular, Putin is trying to increase the size of his army, despite the fact that the Russian economy may not be able to withstand this.

In this scenario, Russian citizens will become poorer due to the fact that their state will throw all its efforts into preparing for war. This will resemble the realities of the Soviet Union, which “saving” on the welfare of citizens in order to finance the military-industrial complex.

Is NATO ready for Russian aggression?

In order to understand what Russia's chances are against the North Atlantic Alliance, it is enough to simply compare the number of troops of two potential adversaries

“NATO is able right now, and not in 5, up to or 15 years, to carry out mobilization preparations for a war with Russia. This is mainly possible thanks to the American army, which at the moment is not conducting active combat operations,” Feigin noted.

That is why, despite the weakening of European armies, in the event of Russian aggression, the United States will be able to use its military to stop Russia. In addition, it will be able to be strengthened by the armies of Germany, France and Britain.

Now Europe must reopen its military-industrial complex enterprises. And if it manages to significantly increase its production of military equipment and shells, Russia will not be able to even think about carrying out a new aggression.

What do NATO countries think about the threat to Russia?

  • One of Russia's greatest realists in modern European politics is Peter Pavel, a former NATO general and president of the Czech Republic. He directly says that in 5-7 years Russia will be able to restore the resources lost in the war with Ukraine and attack again.
  • However, NATO itself understands the threats from the Kremlin, as the Vilnius summit of the Alliance showed. At it, member countries clearly demonstrated that they are aware of the danger from Moscow and are ready to stop it.
  • To achieve this, countries are discussing changes to the Alliance's defense plan. Previous developments were also published in abridged form by the German magazine Bild.
