During the “direct line” on December 14, Vladimir Putin said that there are about one and a half thousand new volunteers in Russia every day. However, he did not specify that in fact these people were being recorded under duress.

Political scientist Igor Reiterovich told< strong> 24 Channel that the “volunteer plan” is currently being actively used in Russia. The relevant documents are sent to the enterprises, and a certain number of people are forced to sign contracts with the Russian armed forces.

“They found a mechanism that allows them to recruit 20 thousand people eachper month, without calling it mobilization. Formally, it seems normal, subject to certain procedures,” noted Reiterovich.

Perhaps in Russia they will maintain this scheme, expanding it somewhat. For example, they will take not 20, but 30 thousand people.

Putin can do without a general mobilization

It has already been said a lot that after the next re-election in the spring of 2024, the Russian president may dare to undertake a total mobilization. However, in reality, he can avoid an unpleasant statement.

Therefore, Putin does not have to make any statements. On the other hand, his hands will be completely freed. If he has such a need , he, in principle, can do this, – says Reiterovich.

Such a need may arise if the protests of the mobilized wives acquire a large scale. In order to rotate the remnants of the Russian occupiers in Ukraine, Putin may resort to new mobilization.
