Putin demands from Lukashenka to intervene, Venislavsky assessed the threat from Belarus
The issue of Belarus' participation in the armed aggression against Ukraine remains open. Such a threat has existed since the first days of a full-scale war.
Today it remains, but is small. Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, said this to Channel 24.
Putin constantly demands Lukashenka to intervene in this war, but he skillfully avoids such an adventure. Venislavsky noted.
Lukashenka understands that this can lead to very large losses among the Belarusian military. In addition, the decision to enter the land phase of the war with Ukraine may have unpredictable consequences for the personal political regime and its personal power. “Therefore, in my opinion, he will continue to maneuver,” Fyodor believes.
Why is there an accumulation of additional units of the armed forces of Belarus
According to Venislavsky, this is a certain political game of Lukashenka. “He demonstrates that he is supposedly preparing for something, but there is no sharp increase in the number of armed forces in close proximity to the borders of Ukraine,” the speaker said.
According to him, tasks are constantly being carried out to divert our attention, to tie down our defense forces, which must respond to a potential threat. “On the territory of the Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr regions, our rather large Armed Defense Security Forces are concentrated, which we cannot use in the east of the country in the Slobozhansky, Donetsk operational region, because we must keep them here,” he explained.

They are carrying out actions there to cover the borders, demonstrative actions along the border, across the border. But to say that now there is a real threat… It exists, but it is not great, – Venislavsky noted.
Belarus wants to show its positions again
The Belarusian Defense Ministry announced its readiness to receive observers from the OSCE, to demonstrate positions on the border of Ukraine. According to the speaker, Lukashenka does not want to be fully associated with the sanctions pressure of our Western partners on Russia, so he demonstrates his openness and unwillingness to intervene in the war.
“From the point of view of the UN Resolution, Belarus is the same aggressor as and Russia, because it provided territories for the shelling of Ukrainian cities. However, Lukashenka does not want to expand this aggression. He demonstrates that he complies with international law, although it is difficult to imagine,” Venislavsky concluded.
