Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump
Russian President Vladimir Putin surpassed his American counterpart Donald Trump in the rating of trust among residents of 13 developed countries. This is evidenced by the results of a study by the independent center from Washington Pew Research Center, available on the website.
The survey was conducted among citizens from Japan, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Sweden, France, Denmark, Germany and Belgium. They were asked to express their confidence in the leaders of the USA, Germany, France, Great Britain, Russia and China in matters of international politics.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was the leader of the poll. She is trusted by 76 percent of respondents. In second place is French President Emmanuel Macron (64 percent), in third – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson 48 percent).
The Russian leader is in fourth place. Confidence in his international politics was stated by 23 percent of respondents, with the most popular figure of Putin among respondents from Italy and Germany, where from 31 to 37 percent of citizens voted for him. Chinese leader Xi Jinping is trusted by 19 percent of citizens, while Trump is in last place with 16 percent. The most active votes for the American leader were those from Europe who support the right-wing parties at home.
Trump previously spoke about his ability to get along best with the world's toughest leaders. According to the journalist, the American leader constantly spoke disparagingly about the South Korean leader, in contrast to the heads of Russia, North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
