Xi Jinping said China and Russia insist on a "political solution" wars in Ukraine.
China and Russia advocate a political settlement of the war in our state. This was discussed during a joint press conference between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian dictator Putin.
BBC writes about this.
As noted, Putin is on a visit to China. There he met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Together they signed a common declaration. At the same time, at the press conference, the leaders spoke about deepening ties between China and the Russian Federation and cooperation in the field of trade and key foreign policy issues.
In addition, we were talking about the war that the Russian Federation unleashed against Ukraine. China calls it a “crisis”.
Xi Jinping said that China and Russia insist on a “political solution” to the war in Ukraine. For his part, Putin expressed gratitude for “China’s efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.” However, the Chinese leader did not name any details or further steps. Putin said that he would inform Xi about the situation on the battlefield.
At the same time, Xi Jinping's statement comes amid Western concern that China is strengthening the Russian economy and supplying weapons components for the war in Ukraine. China has become a major export market for energy supplies that support the Kremlin's coffers.
Xi and Putin and the delegations held about 45 minutes of negotiations. At a press conference, Putin said the discussions were “warm and sociable” and demonstrated the importance of relations between the two countries.
He said that both countries are working to create a “multipolar world” and that many of their approaches to global and regional problems are similar.
Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on May 16 and began negotiations with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in a “small group”.
