Putin and Lukashenko fear: intensifying the topic of negotiations has three goals

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during a visit to Russia that “there will be a collapse” if the war does not end in 2024. It is obvious that Vladimir Putin’s henchman and the purchased Western press are promoting negotiations with Ukraine.

Lukashenko is a propagandist for the Kremlin, therefore he performs the assigned function. Deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, head of the People's Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushko told Channel 24 that intensifying the topic of negotiations has three goals.

In 2024, elections should be held in Russia and Belarus. In Belarus, this is the only day for the appointment of deputies at all levels. Lukashenko has already agreed on the lists and it is clear who will be “elected” to parliament.

In an aggressor country, this is the re-election of Putin as President of Russia. Lukashenko and Putin are interested in a truce at this moment.

Three goals for intensifying negotiations

Firstly, they fear that Ukraine will make serious actions on the front line on the eve or during the elections, which could lead to an impact on the electoral situation in Russia.

Alexander Lukashenko constantly throws out ideas about the importance of agreeing on negotiations and even refers to Vladimir Zelensky, who seems to understand this.

Secondly, they want to create the effect “Russia and Belarus are always for peace “It’s the West that’s bad and it’s inciting Ukraine not to sit down at the negotiating table.” Putin and Lukashenko saturate Russians and Belarusians with propaganda, and, unfortunately, this affects the number of people.

Thirdly, they want to demotivate Ukrainians. Constant talk about peace and negotiations is aimed at making Ukrainians less motivated to fight for their land and homeland, Latushko noted.

What is the purpose of Lukashenko’s visit

Alexander Lukashenko traditionally visited Russia when all of Europe celebrates Christmas, that is, December 25th. Almost all CIS countries also gathered in St. Petersburg. Latushko is convinced that all representatives of states “kept a fig in their pocket” to Putin, who is trying to show his influence and “center of gravity.”
