German turbine manufacturer Siemens Energy says there is no reason to shut down Nord Stream. The oil leak that the Russians are talking about is not a prerequisite for this.
The company stressed that the oil leak is not a technical reason that would justify cutting off gas supplies from Russia to Europe. Siemens issued a statement.
Typically, such leaks do not affect the operation of the turbine. They can be sealed in place.
As a turbine manufacturer, we can only state that such a withdrawal is not a technical reason for stopping work, the company notes.
Previously, such problems did not stop the turf
Added that earlier the origins did not lead to a stoppage. This is a common repair procedure.
Siemens also recalled that it had noted several times that there were enough additional turbines at the Portovaya compressor station to operate Nord Stream 1. Although the manufacturer is not involved in the maintenance of Nord Stream, it is ready to take part in technical works.
Russia stops Nord Stream
On September 2, Russian media, referring to Gazprom, wrote about stopping Nord Stream for an indefinite period. The Russians claimed that the last remaining turbine allegedly found faulty. Like, “an oil leak has been discovered.”
The European Commission believes that Gazprom stopped Nord Stream under a false pretext to blackmail Europe.
