Russia continues to seek ways to strengthen cooperation with Iran. It was for this purpose that the Prime Minister of the aggressor country, Mikhail Mishustin, arrived in Tehran on September 30.

It is noted that Mishustin arrived in the capital of Iran to meet with various officials of the country and discuss Russian-Iranian economic cooperation.

What is known about Mishustin's visit to Tehran

In particular, the Russian Prime Minister held talks with President Masoud Pezeshkian. At this meeting, the official expressed hope that Russia and Iran will sign a comprehensive agreement on strategic cooperation. This is expected to happen at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, which will be held on October 22-24.

In addition, Mishustin also met with First Vice President of Iran Mohammad Reza Aref. The Russian official spoke with him about the possibilities for Russian investment in “various industries” in Iran, in particular the oil industry.

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said that during Mishustin's visit to Iran, special attention will be paid to developing trade and economic ties between the two countries.

Russian and Iranian officials likely view the expansion of economic and financial cooperation as a necessary component of the overall intensification of Russian-Iranian relations, the Institute for the Study of War concluded.

By the way, military cooperation between the countries continues. In early September, it became known that Iran had transferred ballistic missiles to Russia.

Recall that Pezeshkian made a cynical statement about the war in Ukraine, allegedly condemning Russian aggression. The head of Iran insists that he allegedly did not transfer any missiles to the aggressor country.
