According to the case materials, the perpetrators thus decided to “make easy” money. But instead of money from the Russian invaders, they received suspicion from Ukrainian law enforcement.
In the Odessa region, law enforcement officers neutralized a group that burned three relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia and was preparing to derail a train. The perpetrators planned to install a brake stopper on the track for the sabotage, which they purchased online.
SBU officers prevented sabotage and detained two enemy henchmen in the heat of the moment, when they were preparing to block the railway tracks.
Also in Kharkiv region, a 17-year-old resident of Lozovsky district was detained, who destroyed a railway relay cabinet and was preparing for a new arson.
All defendants were notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage committed under martial law).
In addition, the actions of the perpetrators in Odessa were additionally qualified under Part 3 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage committed by an organized criminal group under martial law). They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
