The French agency, citing a source in the state prosecutor’s office, who wished not to be named, noted that a man born in 1984 was detained and a judicial investigation was launched on suspicion of “organizing events that could lead to destabilization in time of the Olympic Games”. The prosecutor's office added that this crime is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

The prosecutor's office said that during a visit to the man's house “at the request of the Ministry of Internal cases of France” found evidence of suspected plans.

They did not provide any details of the alleged plot, except that it was not terrorist in nature and that specialists from the anti-terrorism prosecutor's office were not monitoring this case.

Previously, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin reported that French law enforcement officers conducted checks against more than a million people, including athletes, coaches, journalists, volunteers, security guards and even local residents near the venues of events on the eve of the Olympics.

By the way, the 2024 Olympics in Paris starts on Friday, July 26 and will run until August 11. This is the third Summer Olympic Games in the history of the French capital.
