The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has simplified the conditions for enterprises that import electricity. Now, to avoid supply restrictions, it is enough to import 60% of the required electricity, instead of the previous 80%.

New rules for electricity imports by enterprises to operate without shutdowns

The Cabinet of Ministers changed the rules for electricity imports during martial law at the suggestion of the Ministry of Energy and taking into account the wishes of energy companies in order to increase imports and make the energy system more stable in conditions of deficit.

– The government's decision was made taking into account the increase in capacity limits for electricity imports to Ukraine from European countries to 2.1 GW, – explained the head of the Ministry of Energy Herman Galushchenko.

A government representative in Taras Melnychuk told the Verkhovna Rada that for enterprises that provide 60% of their electricity consumption through imports or their own generators, the following will not apply:

Now watching

  • consumption restriction schedules;
  • emergency or hourly power outages;
  • restrictions on the use of electrical capacity.

As Galushchenko noted, this will create additional incentives for enterprises to more actively use commercial imports of electricity, which will contribute to stable operation power systems.
