“The position remains unchanged”: the White House made a new statement on long-range strikes Anzhelika Baibak

The White House's position on long-range strikes remains unchanged. At the same time, negotiations on the provision of weapons continue.

This was stated by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan during a speech at the National Defense University. As reported by the Voice of America, the White House did not explain why the position remains unchanged.

The White House made a new statement on long-range strikes

Sullivan stated that the US position on long-range strikes deep into Russia remains unchanged. At the same time, he added that negotiations with Ukraine are continuing.

The White House did not explain its principled and unwavering position, but Sullivan noted that the United States provides Ukraine with “a huge range of capabilities” that help protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

As a matter of common sense, if there is an artillery system that is firing at you from across the border in Kharkiv or elsewhere along the Ukrainian-Russian border, you should be able to fire back, Sullivan said.

At the same time, long-range strikes in depth remain prohibited.

“Our policy has not changed at this point, but these conversations will continue, and I believe that it is best to conduct them behind closed doors so that we can resolve this issue with our Ukrainian partners,” Biden’s adviser concluded.
