Pope Francis Urges US Catholics to Vote for 'Lesser Evil' in Presidential Election

by alex

Pope Francis has criticized both US presidential candidates for their stances on abortion and immigration, and advised American Catholics to vote for the lesser evil in the upcoming election.

This is reported by AP News.

According to Francis, both candidates — Kamala Harris and Donald Trump — are pro-life, whether it is the one who expels migrants or the one who kills babies. However, the Pope did not name either candidate.

Francis has made the issue of immigration a priority of his pontificate and often speaks out forcefully about it. He also strongly echoes Church teaching that prohibits abortion, which the Bible says is tantamount to murder.

— To have an abortion is to kill a human being. You may like the word or not, but it is murder, he said.

The pontiff said that migration is a right described in Scripture, and anyone who tries to limit it is committing a grave sin.

Francis urged people to fulfill their civic duty

— We must vote and choose the lesser evil. Who is the lesser evil, a woman or a man? I don't know. Everyone should think about it and do it in their conscience, he said.

Trump and Harris have not yet commented on the Pope's statements.
